Favourable weather and planting conditions have led to improved fertile area for wheat.

Wet weather in 2020, forced many farmers to plant Spring-sown barley. Therefore, improved conditions in 2021, saw a decline in barley from the previous year.

2021 Wheat yields are above the five year average (2016-2020), at 13.7 million tonnes.
